Pesia’s Kitchen has continuously operated with a clear guiding principle

No One Should Go Hungry

1.5 Million Hungry. 2.9 Million Tons Wasted.

In Israel, 1.5 million people face food insecurity—including Jews, Arabs, Bedouins, secular and religious communities, the elderly, and children. This includes people living in both major cities and remote peripheral towns.

The situation is only getting worse. With war and inflation driving up food prices, even basic groceries are out of reach for many families. Yet while so many go hungry, 2.9 million tons of food are discarded each year. Rescuing just half of that food could eliminate food insecurity.

Our flagship program

EAT School Program

Through our collaboration with the Derech Kfar network of schools, we deliver 15,000 pounds of fresh produce every week during the academic year to 18 schools. Students and their teachers actively participate by packing fruits and vegetables for distribution to their neighbors.

The EAT School Program reaches 13,000 families each week and teaches students the value of compassion and community, showing them that their efforts can create meaningful change. This program is positioned to expand to the entire network of Derech Kfar Schools in the coming years.

Emergency
War Fund

The Iron Swords war, which began on October 7, 2023, has caused a major food security crisis in Israel, with a sharp increase in demand for food assistance. Many local businesses, including restaurants and tourism-related establishments, were forced to shut down, leaving refugee families without a source of income. In addition, many other vulnerable groups, including army units and local communities, struggled with insufficient nutrition. Pesia’s Kitchen responded by expanding its efforts, securing donations from various sources like culinary schools, bakeries, and restaurants, and collaborating with partners like Chabad and Leket Israel to provide prepared meals and surplus food to those in need.

One of the most severely impacted groups was the unrecognized Bedouin villages in the Negev, which lacked protection from missile attacks and suffered significant casualties and property damage. Pesia’s Kitchen worked with the NGO Sidreh to deliver large quantities of food supplies to these communities. Additionally, the organization provided support to evacuees from the Gaza Envelope and reserve soldiers stationed along the Lebanese border. Through these efforts, Pesia’s Kitchen has remained dedicated to supporting Israel's most vulnerable populations, leveraging donations, partnerships, and volunteers to sustain their food rescue and distribution initiatives throughout the ongoing war.
